First commercial Newfoundland oyster farm expanding to Notre Dame Bay

PLACENTIA BAY, N.L. – The first commercially cultivated oyster farm in Newfoundland and Labrador is set to expand to new waters.

Merasheen Oyster Farms Inc. has been producing oysters in Placentia Bay and is now adding production to Notre Dame Bay.

Owner Juan Roberts, the province's sole oyster farmer, said in a release the move is expected to result in a higher-quality product.
